Swim Team

Whether this is your first season or you are a veteran of the summer league, we are excited that you are joining us this summer. We have a longstanding history of supporting young swimmers in a fun, friendly environment, and we can't wait to get to know and cheer on your swimmer as they gain new skills and make new friends as a Northbrook Dolphin!

To gauge whether your swimmer is ready for summer swim, we ask you to consider the following:

  • 6 and under swimmers must be able to swim at least 15 meters unassisted, preferably 25 meters.
  • 7 to 10 year old swimmers must be able to swim at least 25 meters unassisted and preferably 35-50 meters.
  • 11 and older swimmers must be able to swim at least 50 meters unassisted without stopping and preferably 75 meters.

Northbrook coaches will assess your child’s readiness during the first full week of practice. If your child is interested in joining the team but can't yet meet the distance requirements, we recommend you sign up for lessons and wait until a later date. There is no deadline to join! Check the Lessons section of the website for info.

SEASON MEETS

The TSA summer swim season consists of six dual swim meets, split evenly into three home meets and three away meets.  All six meets will be held on Tuesday evenings, weather permitting. In the event of inclement weather the meet will be held on Wednesday, unless mutually agreed upon by the two teams. All swimmers and parents who have signed up to volunteer are expected to participate on all make-up days. No transportation is provided for away meets.

SPECIAL MEETS

Intrasquad Time Trials

Time Trials are held prior to the season start, typically on the Tuesday before the first regular meet. This meet has several purposes. It provides an opportunity for new swimmers to experience swim meet conditions and provides the coaches with timing data so that swimmers can be placed in the appropriate heats for the first official swim meet. It also gives parents an opportunity to see their child’s progress, to encourage and support the team, and to familiarize themselves with the volunteer positions needed for each swim meet prior to an official meet as well as make new friends.

TSA League Championship Meet

We would like all swimmers to make themselves available to participate in the TSA Championship Meet which is held at the end of the season at Triangle Aquatic Center.  This is the official TSA league championship meet in which all teams will compete against all of the other area TSA summer swim teams. Entry fees for the championship meet are included in the swim team fees.

Communicating with the Team

Information of interest to swim team families will be distributed via the team web site: http://nbkdolphins.swimtopia.com/. In the event of inclement weather, meet information will be posted via email.
